Leeds United want Raphael Guerreiro and they would seemingly like to get a deal for the Borussia Dortmund ace tied up very soon.

That’s according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to Give Me Sport.

Jones claims that Leeds want a long-term solution at left back and do like Guerreiro, but don’t think it will be easy to get him.

Jones added that Leeds really want to get a deal for Guerreiro done soon in order to secure a top left back moving forward.

Leeds brought in Junior Firpo in 2021 but the signing from Barcelona has struggled in the Premier League.

Pascal Struijk is more of a centre back, so Leeds would seemingly want to focus their attention on a new left back in 2023.

Leeds have concern Guerreiro wouldn’t join

Guerreiro fits the bill in terms of his attacking play.

The 28-year-old has bagged 37 goals and 39 assists in 206 games for Borussia Dortmund and has even shown his ability for Portugal.

Guerreiro scored a superb goal Portugal in their demolition job on Switzerland at the World Cup last week.

Out of contract at the end of the season, it feels like Guerreiro will be leaving at some point in 2023.

That could be a cut-price January deal or a free transfer in the summer, with Leeds possibly hoping to hatch a pre-contract agreement and then a cheap cash move.

Leeds do have concerns though, with Jones also telling Give Me Sport that the Whites fear their league position will make it difficult to sign Guerreiro.

Jesse Marsch sit just two points clear of the relegation zone and tempting proven quality players like Guerreiro could be difficult.

Leeds are seemingly still going to have a go and will pull out all the stops to convince Guerreiro into a 2023 deal.
