Leeds United want Raphael Guerreiro and Borussia Dortmund are seemingly unconvinced about giving him a new contract.
The Whites spent on a new left back in 2021 by signing Junior Firpo from Barcelona.
Firpo hasn’t really set the world alight at Leeds and Pascal Struijk, for as well as he has played at left back, is still a centre back by trade.
Leeds have been linked with other left backs, such as Kai Wagner of Philadelphia Union, but an interesting name has emerged of late.

Leeds United want Raphael Guerreiro
Dean Jones told Give Me Sport back in August that Leeds were showing an interest in Borussia Dortmund ace Guerreiro.
No deal was done before the summer deadline but Leeds are being linked once again.
This time it’s TEAMtalk suggesting that Leeds want to sign Guerreiro during the January window.
It’s stated that Leeds are already preparing a contract offer for Guerreiro as he heads towards the final six months of his contract.
The idea would be for Leeds to secure a pre-contract agreement for Guerreiro and have him join in the summer for free or negotiate a cheap deal with Dortmund.
Leeds’ hopes are now being boosted with Dortmund seemingly not all that fussed about keeping the Portugal international.
Ruhr 24 report that Dortmund are unconvinced about a new contract for two reasons.
Firstly, Dortmund decision-makers are worried about Guerreiro’s injuries, believing that he simply misses too many matches.
The 28-year-old has suffered a number of muscle injuries in recent times and Dortmund may simply look to replace him.
Another issue is that Dortmund don’t think Guerreiro is all that good in terms of defending, with his approach branded ‘careless’.
It’s noted that Guerreiro is a ‘weapon’ going forward and that may be what appeals to Leeds under Jesse Marsch.
As it stands, it seems that Guerreiro will be allowed to leave Dortmund for nothing and the window is open for Leeds to make their move.
