Leeds United fans have certainly been won over by summer signing Pablo Hernandez this season. The Spaniard has been excellent since his arrival, especially at Elland Road, and his silky playmaking has been a joy to watch in the Championship.

The Spaniard is just one of a few key men helping Leeds in their bid to return to glory. But whilst he has been helping Leeds, he has also been trying to help his first club.

The 31-year-old, who has four caps for the Spanish national team, has been speaking to the press in Spain recently about his attempts to try and save CD Castellon from extinction.

Hernandez played at Castellon from 1997 until 2003 and former Valencia star Gaizka Mendieta also began his career at the club.

Currently they play in the Tercera, Spanish football’s fourth tier, but are fighting for promotion.

But finances are tough and the Spanish side are looking for buyers.

Hernandez has been trying to buy the club with a consortium including other former players. However, he has now confirmed that no deal will be happening, after failing to come to an agreement.

Marca reports that a Chinese consortium, who also own French side Sochaux, is now the front-runner to buy the club.

Hernandez then can focus on getting Leeds United back to the Premier League.
