Leeds United beat Preston North End 4-1 on Boxing Day.
Leeds United made it eight wins in their last ten Championship games on Boxing Day, as they hammered Preston North End 4-1 at Deepdale.
Early goals from Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko had put Leeds 2-0 up before Marnick Vermijl smashed home from Simon Makienok’s knock-down to bring Preston back into the game.

However, Leeds did restore their two-goal lead before half time as Souleymane Doukara broke the offside trap before his shot squirmed underneath Chris Maxwell and into the net.
Preston had former Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford sent off in the second half, and Garry Monk’s men completed their win with Pablo Hernandez slotting home from inside the area.

The win keeps Leeds in fifth place in the Championship table, and with Newcastle losing to Sheffield Wednesday, the Whites are now just eight points off an automatic promotion spot.
After the final whistle, a number of Leeds players took to Twitter to react to the performance, with winger Sacko particularly pleased to have scored his first goal in 22 games, with his last goal coming over four months ago.
Defenders Luke Ayling and Pontus Jansson celebrated a superb win, with the latter suggesting that Leeds can achieve ‘fantastic things’ if they stick together this season.
Midfielder Eunan O’Kane missed out on the game but praised team-mate Roofe for his display, which featured a goal and two assists, whilst Kalvin Phillips, Stuart Dallas and Marcus Antonsson also sent messages to fans.
