Leeds United want Pedro and the Flamengo striker has now been picked in the Brazil World Cup squad ahead of Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino.

The Whites are surely going to make a move for a new striker in 2023.

Jesse Marsch really needed another striker in the summer window but Leeds just were’t able to get one in.

Patrick Bamford seemingly can’t be relied upon as a first-choice option anymore and Victor Orta must sign a real goalscorer in January if Leeds are to avoid a relegation battle.

Leeds United want Pedro

One name Leeds are understood to be interested in is Flamengo hitman Pedro.

Fabrizio Romano told Give Me Sport before the summer transfer deadline that Leeds have been monitoring Pedro for a long time.

A deal couldn’t be done but Leeds will surely still have Pedro on their wish list for January or even next summer.

The 25-year-old hitman won the Copa Libertadores last weekend with Flamengo and finished the competition as the top goalscorer with 12, and was named the Best of the Tournament.

Formerly of Fiorentina, Pedro has been a goal machine for Flamengo and some believe he is now ready for another stab at European football.

Leeds are one potential destination as they chase a new striker and Pedro will now have the biggest stage on which to impress.

Brazil named their 26-man squad for the World Cup on Monday with Tite facing tough decisions up front.

Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus, Roberto Firmino and Pedro were all in contention as Brazil’s striking options.

Tite has now made his choice, including Pedro but leaving Liverpool star Firmino at home.

Pedro has only won two caps for Brazil but has done enough to convince Tite that he should be on the plane.

That goes to show the kind of quality Tite and co believe Pedro can bring, clearly feeling that he can score goals from the bench in Qatar.

If Pedro shines at the World Cup, Leeds may well find that they face a major battle to bring the Brazilian hitman to Elland Road.
