Leeds United want Pedro and the striker is being backed to shine off the bench for Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Whites really wanted a striker over the summer but weren’t able to make it happen.

Some players went elsewhere, such as Arnaud Kalimuendo and Charles De Ketelaere and others just caused a drama like Bamba Dieng.

Patrick Bamford’s continued injury problems mean Leeds simply must sign a new striker in 2023.

One name on Victor Orta’s radar is Flamengo hitman Pedro.

Fabrizio Romano told Give Me Sport just before the summer transfer deadline that Leeds fancied signing Pedro.

A deal didn’t happen, with Flamengo no doubt standing firm given their hopes of winning the Copa Libertadores.

Flamengo did win South America’s biggest prize with Pedro finishing the competition as top goalscorer.

Pedro has now been given a call-up to the Brazil squad for the World Cup.

Whilst it’s unlikely that Pedro will start ahead of Richarlison or Gabriel Jesus, the 25-year-old could feature from the bench.

A penalty box poacher, Pedro knows where the goal is and will no doubt want to earn a move to Europe off the back of the World Cup.

BBC Sport commentator Guy Mowbray has now offered up Pedro as a player to watch in Qatar.

Mowbray suggested that Pedro is a ‘classy player’ and an ‘excellent finisher’ in front of goal.

Mowbray added that Pedro could have a ‘starring’ role off the bench if Brazil need something different at the World Cup.

Games against Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon aren’t easy for Brazil and Pedro may well be needed off the bench.

Leeds will be watching closely, possibly with the hope of finally luring Pedro to Elland Road come January.
