It has been reported that Leeds United could appoint Patrick Vieira as their next manager.

The former Crystal Palace boss was let go before the international break, as his side failed to register a victory in 2023.

But now it seems Leeds United are interested in bringing Patrick Vieira on board for Javi Gracia.

Leeds United could appoint Patrick Vieira as new manager

Currently, Leeds are sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table.

But, it would be silly to suggest that they are not in a relegation battle, sitting just two points off 18th place West Ham United.

Paul Robinson, who played for the Whites between 1998 and 2004 said the ‘jury is out’ on the Spaniard and questioned whether he is ready to dig his side out of the relegation scrap.

While one will only truly discover that at the end of the season, it seems like Leeds have no intention of leaving things to chance, as they are looking at Patrick Vieira to potentially replace him as their next manager.

This revelation comes from talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook who claims that Vieira could be in line for an ‘immediate return’ to management, and was on the shortlist to replace Jesse March.

The Frenchman continues to be highly thought of Elland Road and he is said to believe done wrongly by getting sacked by Palace, despite leading the side to a 12th place finish and an FA Cup semi-final last season.

Vieira could prove to be a smart appointment

While Patrick Vieira did not cover himself in glory at Selhurst Park in the 2022/2023 campaign, he could bring a breath of fresh air at Leeds if he was appointed as their manager.

Vieira could command respect, due to his illustrious playing career and make use of the sheer quality at the club, as he did in his debut season at Palace.

Then again, a question mark still hovers over the Arsenal icon’s managerial capabilities, as while his sacking was harsh, he did also struggle to get the best out of all the attacking talent at his disposal.
