Leeds United won 2-0 at Oakwell this weekend and some of their players reacted on Twitter afterwards.
Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane was among the many footballers to wear rainbow-coloured laces in their boots this weekend in support of tackling homophobia in sport.
A lot of sportspeople and atheltes showed their support for the Rainbow Laces campaign, which was created by LGBT equality campaigners Stonewall, and O’Kane was no different.
The Northern Irish midfielder took to Twitter to post a photograph of his boots after United’s 2-0 win at Barnsley on Saturday and he was asked by Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani to continue donning them.
First-half goals from Egzjan Alisoki and Samu Saiz gave Leeds a 2-0 half-time lead at Oakwell yesterday, before Thomas Christiansen’s side saw the game out in the second half.
And one of those heroes, Alioski, also posted a post-match message on Twitter for the supporters.
It was an excellent win for a side who were thrashed 4-1 by Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, but the games come thick and fast in December and Leeds kick off the busy period – which includes seven games in 31 days – by hosting in-form Aston Villa at Elland Road next weekend.
