
Leeds United’s search for promising young players continues with Oldham Athletic talent Benny Couto now believed to be on their radar.
The Whites have placed a strong emphasis on Under-23 recruitment ever since Victor Orta’s arrival back in 2017.
Last summer, Leeds pounced for the likes of Leo Hjelde, Lewis Bate and Amari Miller.
Add in the likes of Sam Greenwood, Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Charlie Allen and Leeds have been active in recruitment developmental players in recent times.
Some fans want to see Leeds focus more on first-team additions, but another youngster is now being linked.
The Telegraph claim that Leeds have one eye on Oldham Athletic left back Couto ahead of a possible bid.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are also interested in Couto, with Oldham keen to take Couto back on loan if a deal is done this month.
Couto, 18, was born in Portugal but has been emerging through Oldham’s youth ranks in recent times.
Keith Curle promoted Couto to first-team training earlier this season, and he has been featuring regular for the Latics ever since.
Couto has played 21 times in all competitions this season, including against Leeds Under-21’s in the Football League Trophy in September.

At such a young age, Couto is already thriving in men’s football and looks set for a huge future.
Hailed as ‘excellent’ by teammate Davis Keillor-Dunn, Couto is turning heads at Oldham and now in the Premier League.
The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Leeds want to recruit a young left back for their Under-23’s.
Rangers talent James Maxwell was the main target then, but Couto is now emerging as a real alternative for the Whites.
