Pontus Jansson is officially a Leeds United player, from the summer at least.
Leeds United have finally confirmed they will sign Pontus Jansson in the summer.
The club announced the news via Twitter, two days after the transfer deadline for January passed.
Leeds had teased supporters news was about to break, sending fans into a frenzy about what they could be set to announce.
HITC reported last week that Jansson had told Swedish newspaper Expressen he had signed with Leeds permanently, before the defender’s quotes were mysteriously removed from the paper’s story.
Leeds’ official website confirms that Jansson’s loan from Torino will become permanent in July, with the defender signing a three year deal, and not the four-year contract which had been suggested.
Jansson scored the winning goal for the Whites 24 hours earlier against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, and has been instrumental in their rise up the Championship table.
Leeds are in fourth place and when Jansson’s loan becomes permanent in July, there is every chance he will be a Premier League player.
