Leeds United are moving in for Swansea City striker Joel Piroe and will allegedly pay £15million for the Dutchman.

Joel Piroe is becoming a key target for Leeds United in the final stages of the transfer window with a bid now expected.

That is according The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who reports that Leeds are trying to purchase Piroe.

It’s stated that Leeds are willing to put £15million on the table in an attempt to lure Piroe to Elland Road.

Swansea have rejected other offers for Piroe but may now be tempted to cash in if Leeds do make such an offer.

Leeds of course won’t be paying £15million up front and much will depend on the add-ons and payment structure.

There is also the matter of convincing Piroe to sign given that he is currently poised to become a free agent next summer.

That would present Piroe with a chance to land big wages and a hefty signing-on fee, so Leeds will have to convince him that a move to West Yorkshire is the right decision.

Joel Piroe would give Leeds United a proven Championship goalscorer

It’s clear that Leeds need to find a new striker.

Patrick Bamford hasn’t quite been the same player in recent times and Rodrigo has moved on to Qatar.

Georginio Rutter has struggled to settle at Leeds and a proven Championship striker would be perfect.

Piroe certainly fits that bill having racked up 41 goals in 91 Championship games for Swansea since joining from PSV Eindhoven in 2021.

The 24-year-old has been hailed as ‘outstanding’ by former Swansea boss Russell Martin and has caused problems for many Championship defences.

Piroe could be the type of signing to really catapult Leeds into promotion contention after taking just two points from the first three games.

This would certainly get Leeds fans excited and they will be hoping that Swansea do decide to cash in on Piroe now – and that the striker fancies the move to Elland Road over becoming a free agent.
