Leeds United are interested in snapping up Red Bull Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen to bolster Daniel Farke’s squad.
Yussuf Poulsen is wanted at Leeds United as the Whites attempt to bring in a new forward this summer.
That is according to a report from the Daily Mail, who claim that Poulsen is on the Leeds United radar.
Leeds are understood to be discussing a number of striker targets from around Europe and even South America.
One option in Europe is Poulsen, who isn’t exactly a big goalscorer but is a very hard worker in the final third.
New Leeds boss Farke may well be aware of Poulsen from Germany football and Leeds could make their move this summer.
Who is Leeds United target Yussuf Poulsen?
Poulsen hails from Copenhagen and came up through the ranks with Danish club Lyngby.
RB Leipzig pounced to sign Poulsen at just 19 way back in 2013, having scored 11 times in 37 games for Lyngby.
Poulsen was one of the first major signings for Leipzig in the third tier of German football as they kickstarted their project.
Poulsen has now racked up more than 350 appearances for Leipzig and has now reached 10 years with the Bundesliga side.
A very hard worker and a huge presence at 6ft 4in tall, Poulsen hasn’t always been a regular goalscorer.
Just 18 goals in the last four seasons sum that up, with Poulsen something of a cult hero for his work rate and loyalty to the Leipzig cause.
Now 29, has just one year left on his contract and could bring his long spell with Leipzig to an end this summer with Leeds now keen.
Jesse Marsch was a fan of Poulsen
Poulsen played twice against Farke’s Borussia Monchengladbach side, coming off the bench in both games and even picking up an assist in the second.
Leeds have been prolific in terms of signing Red Bull players, landing Rasmus Kristensen, Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson and Maximilian Wober.
The key factor there was Jesse Marsch as the American had previously worked with all four players and lured him to Leeds.
Marsch has gone but Leeds could go back to the Red Bull well once again with a move for Poulsen.
Marsch did coach Poulsen during his brief spell at RB Leipzig boss, praising him for making a huge impact in one game against Greuther Furth in 2021.
Poulsen could now head from Leipzig to Leeds and give Farke a new threat in the final third as the Whites chase promotion back to the Premier League.
