Leeds must give Jamie Shackleton a run in the team.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa watches on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Sheffield United at Elland Road on March 16, 2019 in Leeds, England.

Leeds United struggled to break down Sheffield United at the weekend and lost 1-0.

The Whites dominated possession with 71 per cent and had 17 shots. Not one landed on target.

One mistake potentially made by manager Marcelo Bielsa was not bringing on game changer Jamie Shackleton.

Shackleton, 19, has emerged as one of Leeds’ most exciting players this season, but is not getting a regular run in the team.

While he has shown an ability to fill in at right-back, he is even better as an attacking midfielder.

This is where Leeds need to utilise him in the promotion run in.

Leeds are still struggling to effectively replace Samu Saiz after he quit the club at the turn of the year to sign with Getafe.

Tyler Roberts has shown flashes of quality in the role, and hit the woodwork against Sheffield United.

Leeds’ error was not replacing him with 20-25 minutes to go and bringing Shackleton on in his place.

Shackleton played 21 minutes off the bench in the win over Reading. Prior to that the last time he played more than 20 minutes for Leeds was the win over Derby.

Leeds brought on youngster Jack Clarke, a wise decision, while Barry Douglas and Stuart Dallas had no effect.

It’s time for Marcelo Bielsa to give Shackleton a proper run of minutes, if not from the start, then make him his ‘go-to’ player off the bench.
