The former Leeds defender is currently out on loan at Wigan Athletic.

The future of Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor has been a popular source of debate at Elland Road in recent months.

His contract expires in the summer and so far, negotiations to extend the deal have not been positive.

Now, according to The Mirror, Everton are interested in signing the Leeds left-back, along with fellow Premier League sides Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds will no doubt struggled to hold on to Taylor if a team such as Everton comes calling this winter, especially at the risk of losing him for free in the summer.

But if Everton do knock on the door come January Leeds should ask for one of their players in exchange, and bring Luke Garbutt back to the club.

The Everton left-back is currently on loan at Wigan Athletic, but that deal expires in January. He joined the Toffees from Leeds in 2009 and the 23-year-old from Harrogate looks unlikely to have a future at Goodison Park if the Toffees sign Taylor, with Brendan Galloway, Bryan Oviedo and Leighton Baines also at the club.

Garbutt could come to Leeds and slot straight into Taylor’s position at a club he knows very well.

If Taylor goes to Goodison, then Garbutt must head back to Leeds this January.
