Leeds United want Morten Hjulmand and have now joined Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and Southampton in the race for the Lecce star.
That’s according to SportItalia’s Rudy Galetti, who is something of a transfer window expert over in Italy.
Galetti claims that Hjulmand is attracting major interest having impressed for Lecce in Serie A.
Leeds, Leicester and Forest are claimed to have joined the race for Hjulmand, who is contracted to Lecce until 2024 – and the Italian club have a one-year option on the deal.
This comes after Southampton seemingly pushed to the front of the queue to sign Hjulmand.
Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported earlier this week that Southampton are planning to put £9.6million on the table for Hjulmand.
That move hasn’t advanced and Southampton may now fear being hijacked by Leeds, Forest or Leicester this month.

Hjulmand came through the ranks at Copenhagen in his native Denmark but he never made his first-team debut for the club.
Copenhagen sold Hjulmand to Austrian side Admira Wacker in 2018, and he excelled with one goal and six assists in 74 games.
Lecce spotted Hjulmand’s potential and pounced to sign him in January 2021, handing him a key role as they attempted to return to Serie A.
Hjulmand became a key player for Lecce and was vital in a holding midfield role as Lecce won the Serie B title.
Now excelling in Serie A, Hjulmand has been developing brilliantly in recent years and at 23, he is already captain of Lecce.
Denmark caps haven’t come for Hjulmand just yet but they’re surely just a matter of time – especially if he makes a big move.
Hailed as a ‘bodyguard’ in front of the Lecce defence, Hjulmand seems primed for a move in the near future.
Leeds may fancy Hjulmand as a replacement for Mateusz Klich this month, adding competition for Tyler Adams and Marc Roca.
Yet with other clubs interest, Leeds may need to move quickly to avoid missing out on Hjulmand.
