Leeds United midfielder is not involved with the first team squad.

Ouasim Bouy poses during his presentation as new player of US Citta' di Palermo at Stadio Renzo Barbera on September 1, 2016 in Palermo, Italy.

Leeds United’s move in 2017 to sign Ouasim Bouy appeared to be instantly confusing.

Bouy joined on a four-year deal, and it is a contract which is proving to be a mistake.

In two seasons, Bouy has never played a game for Leeds, and Marcelo Bielsa has no apparent intent to use him.

This season he did not even land a loan move, despite signing with Dutch side PEC Zwolle last year.

His current status is unclear, having not been involved with Leeds or even for their under-23s as an overage player, as he did a couple of times in his first season.

Despite his career being in limbo, Bouy is trying to be upbeat. He is after all still being paid by Leeds.

He sent a message on Instagram yesterday, his first in six weeks.

Leeds would have been open to offers for Bouy in the summer, but it appears nothing came in.

Finding a club for him in January should be a priority, on a permanent basis, to save Leeds paying his wages.
