Leeds United want Milos Kerkez and are now battling Bournemouth and Leicester City in the race for the AZ Alkmaar star.

That’s according to a report from talkSPORT, who claim that Kerkez is attracting major interest.

It’s suggested that AZ value Kerkez at over £15million, seemingly seeking a huge deal.

AZ’s biggest sale was Vincent Janssen to Tottenham for £18.6million back in 2016, and they may seek a deal close to that for Kerkez.

Whether Leeds are wiling to meet those demands remains to be seen having just signed Maximilian Wober this week.

Who is Leeds United target Milos Kerkez?

Kerkez, 19, was born in Vrbas in Serbia, just about an hour away from the border to Hungary.

After spending time in the Rapid Wien ranks over in Austria, Kerkez headed to Hungary with Hodmezovasarhely and then Gyor.

AC Milan saw potential in Kerkez and lured him to Italy in February 2021. Sadly for Kerkez, he was never able to break through to first-team level at the San Siro.

In January 2022, Kerkez decided to move on once again as he joined AZ Alkmaar, where he has now become a first-team star.

Kerkez has bagged three goals and seven assists in 31 games for AZ, showing his ability as an attack-minded left back.

Tuttomercatoweb even compare Kerkez to Gareth Bale. It’s easy to forget that Bale started out as a left back and the Italian press seemingly see similar attacking potential in Kerkez despite Milan letting him go.

Kerkez has also bagged four caps for Hungary at international level and looks set to rack up many more over the coming years.

Leeds being interested is a surprise though having just signed Wober.

The Austrian looks likely to play as a left back under Jesse Marsch despite his ability to play as a centre back.

It feels unlikely that Leeds would go and splash £15million or more on another left back in Kerkez, but it’s hard not to get excited about such a brilliant talent.
