Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has enjoyed an excellent start to the new campaign.

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has told Przelglad Sportowy that Marcelo Bielsa is the only coach who has ever noticed that he does not use his speed to his advantage.

Bielsa has improved many of Leeds’ squad during his time at Elland Road already, but few players have benefitted as much as Klich.

The Polish international barely featured under either Thomas Christiansen or Paul Heckingbottom last season.

However, since Bielsa has taken charge, the £1.5 million signing (YEP) has started to play regularly for Leeds.

Bielsa’s faith in Klich has already been rewarded, as he has hit three goals for Leeds this term already.

And Klich has praised Bielsa for encouraging him to use his pace more often.

He said: “He told me that I am not free, only … I do not use my speed. He is the first who noticed it. At trainer Oresta Lenczyk, we also had tough workouts at the gym and felt good. I think I need it.

“In Leeds we have a lot of gym classes, we run a lot, because we need 90 minutes of fasting at a fast pace. It suits me.”

Klich now looks set to play a key role at Leeds this season, despite heading into the campaign with his future uncertain.

Leeds are next in action after the international break, when they take on Millwall at The Den.
