Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich was almost discarded by Thomas Christiansen last season.

Mateusz Klich has seemingly taken a dig at former Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen during an interview with Przeglad Sportowy.

Klich was brought to Leeds by Christiansen, but the former Whites boss failed to get the best out of the midfielder.

And Klich has suggested that Christiansen didn’t have the skill to coach them to play in the same way that Bielsa has.

He said: “He wanted to play the way we do now, but he could not teach us that.

“Bielsa knows what measures to choose to achieve this. He did it in previous clubs and now he gives it to us. No experimenting. We go out and play as he wants.”

Christiansen actually made a bright start at Leeds, but he failed to sustain the Whites’ early form.

Leeds’ performances dipped over the second half of the season, and Christiansen was eventually replaced by Paul Heckingbottom.

Heckingbottom also struggled at Leeds, and when Bielsa came in, it felt like a big step forward.

The Argentine boss certainly hasn’t disappointed yet, as Leeds have jumped to the top of the Championship table.

The Yorkshire side are currently unbeaten in the league, and return to action with a match against Millwall after the international break.
