The 20-year-old has been speaking about his summer preparations for the new campaign.
Reading’s Danny Williams and Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips in action
Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been talking today about the work he has been doing in pre-season so far whilst talking to LUTV this week.
The 20-year-old midfielder admits it has been tough getting back into the swing of things, but he also revealed he and some of his Leeds team-mates have been working hard during the off-season to get back to fitness prior to the return to Thorp Arch:

“It’s been tough. Obviously the first two weeks when you come back is going to be tough but it’s been good to see all the lads again.
“I did quite a lot (of training before pre-season) to be fair. I do some with the younger lads as well, the under-21s who I know well, and live around me.
“So we get together and do some running obviously to get back and get fit.”

Phillips will have reason more than any others to ensure he is at his peak this summer.
He had something of a breakthrough last term at Leeds but did not go on to play the amount of games he would have likely wanted throughout the season – featuring just 10 times and mostly as a substitute.

Next season he will be hoping to feature more regularly for the Leeds first-team but in order to do so he will need to convince his new manager Garry Monk that he has what it takes to make an impact on the Leeds first-team throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
With midfield options currently shorn by the loan exit of Liam Bridcutt and Tom Adeyemi this might be his best chance yet.
