The Republic of Ireland midfielder already had the problem when he reported for duty.
Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane has returned to the club from international duty with the Republic of Ireland after picking up an injury.
The midfield dynamo had skipped training with Ireland on Tuesday with a groin problem he picked up in the recent Leeds win over Norwich City.

He returned to training on Wednesday but yesterday he headed home from the squad’s base to return to Leeds for further assessment on the problem.
The 26-year-old’s injury is, thankfully, not believed to be serious but it seems he would have had no chance of playing against Austria and therefore Ireland felt it best he returned to West Yorkshire.

He is not the only Leeds player to leave international duty with a pre-existing injury this week. Stuart Dallas reported for duty with Northern Ireland but was swiftly ruled unable to play for his nation.
O’Kane has become a vital member of the Leeds team since his deadline day move from Bournemouth and the club will be pleased with the respect in which the Irish team have treated his injury.
Leeds fans will now hope he is fully recovered for when they take on Newcastle United in their next Championship fixture.
