Leeds United were beaten 4-2 by Manchester United on Sunday and Roy Keane just can’t believe the tactics Marcelo Bielsa utilised at Elland Road.
The Whites were 2-0 down at half time as United seized control in dreadful conditions.
Harry Maguire’s header meant the Red Devils had finally, finally scored from a corner before Jadon Sancho cross for Bruno Fernandes to score a second.
Leeds could have drowned from there but came out fighting. Rodrigo’s wayward cross looped over David De Gea and into the net before Raphinha quickly levelled it up.
Leeds will have been dreaming of a stunning fightback, but substitutes Fred and Anthony Elanga found the net give Ralf Rangnick the win.
All in all, this was a bad weekend for Leeds.
Newcastle grabbed another point with a draw at West Ham. Burnley and Watford both won, beating Brighton and Aston Villa respectively.
That means Leeds have been dragged just four points clear of the relegation zone and in real danger after just one point in the last four games.
One thing you can bank on is that Marcelo Bielsa won’t change his style; not now, not ever.
‘El Loco’ got Leeds to this point with a daring brand of football; high pressing, high energy, high intensity, man-for-man across the pitch.
That style gets Leeds into a pickle sometimes, and pundit Roy Keane has now slammed the Whites for their approach.
Keane told Sky Sports that Leeds are simply showing ‘insanity’ by continuing to play this way having leaked five goals at Manchester United earlier this season and now another four.
Keane added that Leeds playing man-for-man across the pitch is ‘madness’ against quality players, with United taking full advantage on Sunday.
“From Leeds’ point of view, the sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results,” said Keane. “They done this at United earlier in the season where they conceded five and they’re doing the same again today, where you’re up against real quality players.”
“The players are trying to do that man-for-man stuff, it’s madness what they’re doing,” he added.
