Leeds United have parted ways with manager Marcelo Bielsa, with Patrick Bamford paying tribute to the Argentinian today.

Whites fans didn’t want this day to come but Leeds are clearly in very real danger of slipping back into the Championship.

Having spent 16 years out of the top flight, Leeds know how hard it can be to get back into the Premier League.

Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur means Leeds have taken just one point in their last six games.

With relegation now a very real threat, Leeds have been forced to make a change.

Bielsa has gone, bringing an end to three-and-a-half years at Leeds in which he made fans dream again, all whilst watching a brilliantly chaotic brand of football.

Bielsa achieved what many couldn’t – bringing Leeds back to the Premier League.

Relegation was never really a though in Leeds’ first season back in the top flight, and that’s down to Bielsa/

Bielsa’s exit is a hugely emotional one for fans, and ‘El Loco’ will never, ever be forgotten in West Yorkshire.

Leeds players won’t have wanted this to happen either, with many of them taking their game to a new level under Bielsa.

Striker Patrick Bamford is one such player. Nobody could have expected Bamford to become an England international when he joined Leeds in 2018, but Bielsa made it happen.

Bamford has taken to Instagram today, sending a message about Bielsa’s Leeds exit.

Bamford posted ‘Thank you, the man who changed everything for everyone’.

That may not be quite as long as the message Kalvin Phillips has sent, but it’s a powerful message that many Leeds fans will agree with after seeing Bielsa change the club’s fortunes.
