Kalvin Phillips has been playing in defence since Marcelo Bielsa took over at Leeds United.

Although Bielsa is not fluent in English, and still generally instructs the players through a translator, the Leeds boss did do a speech to the Whites squad recently.
And Phillips says that all the Leeds squad were impressed by the way Bielsa conducted himself.
“It’s not bad to be fair!” Phillips said. “Obviously he has still got a translator but he did a speech the other day and all the lads were quite impressed with his English.”
Bielsa’s influence on Leeds has already been evident, even though it is only pre-season currently.

Leeds have been pressing at a much higher tempo throughout their friendlies so far.
Phillips has been switched to centre-back in these fixtures, with Bielsa seemingly keen to test him out in a new position.
Phillips has generally coped well with the challenge ahead of him, and looks likely to start in defence in Leeds’ opener, which comes against Stoke City at the weekend.
