Despite missing out on a place in the Premier League, Leeds United supporters will be on a little high, at this moment in time because Marcelo Bielsa extended his stay at the club.

But all of that good feeling could come crashing down if recent rumours regarding centre-back Pontus Jansson are true and if he does end up leaving this summer.

Italian outlet Calciomercat have claimed that Portuguese giants Benfica are interested in the services of Jansson, who has been a key figure for Leeds during these past few seasons.

If the Yorkshire club end up losing one of their key players then it would be an utter disaster for the club because they are short in the centre-back area as it is.

With Bielsa staying at Elland Road, Leeds now need to focus on keeping all their star men before adding to their squad for the following campaign.

If they can achieve that then it’ll only increase their chances of finishing in the top-six again next season and this time they could perhaps go one better by earning promotion.

Despite playing in the second tier of English football, Jansson has the capabilities of playing at a higher level. His ability to lead from the back and dominate opposition attackers are just some of his strengths.

Not only that, he can bring the ball out from the back, be a calming influence and bring the best out of those players around him.

But given his talents, Leeds supporters will want him to showcase them at Elland Road next term and guide them back to the promised land.
