Toumani Diagouraga comes on as a substitute during his time at Leeds
Whites loanee Toumani Diagouraga spoke to reporters about his disappointment at not being given what he thought was a fair opportunity to prove his worth at Elland Road under Garry Monk, before being shipped out on loan to Ipswich Town in January, as quoted by Get West London.
The 29-year-old midfielder moved to Leeds in January 2016, and was a permanent feature in the side under previous manager Steve Evans.
But the Frenchman played only once for the West Yorkshire outfit, following Monk’s appointment in June 2016 – and that came on the opening day of the season in their 3-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers.
He has impressed during his time at Portman Road, however, and is still yet to experience defeat after six games played with his new side.
And Diagouraga spoke to the media about his time at Leeds, citing Monk’s arrival at the club as a key turning point for him, as quoted by Get West London:

“It’s just football. I got signed by a manger that liked me. I went there and did well, scoring a few goals. Then a new manager came in. It happened at Brentford when Warburton took over and I went to Portsmouth. You can’t please everyone.”
In defence of Monk, his decision to omit the 29-year-old from the team earlier on in the campaign was fully vindicated, with the likes of Liam Bridcutt, Eunan O’Kane, Stuart Dallas and Ronaldo Vieira all excelling in the centre of midfield at different stages of the season.
And it will be interesting to see if Diagouraga is given another opportunity to impress Monk when he returns to Leeds at the end of the season.
