Illan Meslier has told RMC Sport that he will be at Leeds United next season.

Meslier joined Leeds on loan from French club Lorient in the summer of 2019.

The 20-year-old has been playing regularly in recent weeks due to the suspension of Kiko Casilla, and the youngster has done well for the Whites.

A recent report in Foot Mercato claimed that agents of the young goalkeeper are set to speak to Leeds over a permanent contract.

The France Under-20 international has now stated that he will be at Elland Road next season as well.

Meslier told RMC Sport: “Logically there is a 99% chance that I will stay at Leeds. Next year you’ll see me at Leeds. I am very happy to stay here, it is an exceptional club.”

Leeds United stay

Meslier has done well for Leeds when he has played this season, as he has been calm between the sticks and has communicated well with his defenders.

Although the youngster has not always been kept busy by the opposition players, when he has been called into action, he has made the stops and has shown his presence.

Casilla the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds and Meslier is an able back-up, and given that he is only 20 years of age, he would be a very good long-term signing for the West Yorkshire club, who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching automatic promotion from the Championship.
