The Swansea City loanee is hoping to be a regular first-team member.
Matt Grimes in action
Leeds United snapped up Matt Grimes on loan from Garry Monk’s former club Swansea City this summer – as a potential replacement for Lewis Cook, who joined Bournemouth this summer.
Grimes was signed by Monk at the Liberty Stadium in January 2015, but he failed to establish himself as a first-team regular with the Swans.

He played just seven times for Swansea in the 18 months since, scoring once, and enjoying a spell out on loan at Blackburn Rovers last term.
Grimes is desperate for regular football and he has told the Yorkshire Evening Post this today:
“That’s what I need this season. I need to try and get a starting place every week and to get back to playing regular games, as I did a couple of years ago.
Garry Monk
“It’s been a hard couple of years for me at Swansea, not really getting games, but it’s a move I had to make. I wanted to challenge myself and I still believe I can play at a high, high level. But getting regular games now is most important for my career. It’s what I want this year. Hopefully I can make an impact.”
Grimes looks set to be used often by Monk, which will please both the player and Swansea City – who still see him as an exciting prospect.
Elland Road
The 21-year-old plays the style of football that Monk will be encouraging at Elland Road this campaign.
Neat and tidy with a probing pass and delicate touch he is undoubtedly a player that Monk will be hoping can bring some class to the middle of the park.
If Grimes can get 30 games under his belt this season, it will be fantastic for his development, and hopefully to the benefit of Leeds United.
