Leeds United attacker Jay-Roy Grot put in his best performance of the season so far for loan side VVV Venlo.
Grot scored one goal and provided an assist in Venlo’s 3-0 victory over NAC Breda.
It was the first time Grot had scored or set up a goal, after an unproductive first five games.
Grot has found it tricky for his loan side because he has not been playing in his preferred position up front.
The Leeds loanee has been playing on both the left wing and the right, as Venlo try to find the best way to use him, without dropping their first choice striker.
Grot had a very disappointing first season at Leeds, scoring only one goal, and looking more at home in the under-23s than the first team.
Leeds sent him back to Holland on loan to gain experience, and it might be paying off.
Despite his struggles in his early games of the season, Venlo have kept faith in Grot, perhaps inspired by his promising pre-season performances.
At the weekend he came good, Grot finally had his breakout game.
Now he needs to build on it, and his impressive display may even lead to a central striker role.
