Leeds United loanee Pontus Jansson says he will never return to Torino.

Leeds United loanee Pontus Jansson has told Swedish newspaper Expressen he will never return to Italian side Torino and would rather quit football.

Jansson told the paper he has fallen in love with English football and believes he is perfectly suited, an opinion his outstanding form backs up.

The centre-back explained in the interview that he felt let down by management at Torino, who had failed to offer him chances he says they previously promised.

Jansson said when asked what he would say if they asked him to return: “Never in my life! Although I am on loan. I really like Torino, I’m grateful for my time there, but it is not for me.

“They were callous toward me so now I mix up my feelings. They have hurt me once already. Never in my life that I go back there. And I do not even think they know that I feel like this, but I’d rather stop with football than go back to Torino.”

Jansson will be eligible under the terms of his loan to sign permanently for Leeds after he has played 20 games, a figure he is scheduled to meet at this rate in late December.

Asked if negotiations are already underway between Leeds owner Massimo Cellino and his Torino counterparts, Jansson joked that he did not expect it to be straightforward.

He said: “They are in full swing. But my President at Leeds is an Italian, and then he negotiates with the Italians in Italy. And the Italians against Italians … they may well be drawn into tricks. It can take a while.”

Signing Jansson has to be a priority for Leeds, and if they can get it done before the transfer window officially opens, they will not have to worry about intervention from other clubs.
