Leeds United have been listed as outsiders to sign Norwich City’s Steven Naismith in January.

Bookmakers Bet Victor opened a market on Naismith’s next club on Tuesday, after the Scottish striker hinted at leaving Carrow Road this winter.

Two of Naismith’s old clubs, Rangers and Kilmarnock [4/1], lead the early betting, while Aberdeen and Sunderland – the latter of whom were credited with interest earlier this year – are also well fancied [6/1]. But Leeds [8/1] are right behind them – alongside Yorkshire rivals Hull City.

The Whites have suffered a striker shortage in recent weeks, with Caleb Ekuban and Pierre-Michel Lasogga sidelined, and could look to strengthen in Naismith’s position next month.

The 31-year-old should be familiar to those at Elland Road, having scored in Norwich’s 3-3 draw there eight months ago.

But a lack of action this season, combined with his advancing years and a salary which belongs in the Premier League, may act as a deterrent for Leeds.

According to the Sun, the Canaries paid Everton £8.5 million for Naismith, but were ready to release him ahead of the summer transfer window.
