The left-back needs to tighten up defensively.
Leeds United are currently in a fine run of form in the Championship. One man who has been ever present in their campaign so far is Charlie Taylor. The left-back has featured in every Championship fixture for the club so far this season. However, despite his ever presence, there are some Leeds fans who feel his performances are not at the level of last season.

So how does he compare from this season to his first 15 games in 2015-16?
Here are the statistics.
2016-17
| Position | Team | Goal Assist | Goals | Accurate Cross | Interception | Blocked Cross | Won Tackle | Duel Won | Accurate Pass | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charlie Taylor | DF | Leeds | 1 | 0 | 12 | 24 | 13 | 18 | 78 | 475 | 15 | 1,350 |
2015-16
| Position | Team | Goal Assist | Goals | Accurate Cross | Interception | Blocked Cross | Won Tackle | Duel Won | Accurate Pass | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charlie Taylor | DF | Leeds | 1 | 1 | 9 | 47 | 19 | 25 | 98 | 472 | 15 | 1,350 |
It took Taylor a little while longer to get to 15 last term, because of a battle with glandular fever, but there is some disparity to be seen in the stats.
What is clear is that Taylor is not looking as impressive in his defensive duties this season compared to last.

He has less tackles, blocks, interceptions and duels won this season – which certainly suggests that he has neglected some of his defensive capabilities this campaign.
One reason for this could be Leeds’ form, with Taylor having less work to do, but it does seem as though he could do with tightening up defensively.
