West Ham United wanted to sign Kalvin Phillips from Premier League rivals Leeds United on the final day of the January transfer window, according to The Sun.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that West Ham vice-chairwoman Brady personally contacted Leeds Managing Director Angus Kinnear for Phillips.
West Ham were willing to increase their initial offer for the England international midfielder from £50 million to £55 million.
However, Leeds turned it down, and Phillips, who is unlikely to play before March due to injury, remains at Leeds.
West Ham should make summer bid for Kalvin Phillips
In our view, West Ham should make a bid for Phillips in the summer transfer window.
The Hammers clearly like the 26-year-old, and the London club’s interest is not going to go away after a few months.

In our opinion, Leeds were never going to sell as important a player as Phillips in the middle of the season, especially as Marcelo Bielsa’s side are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.
However, things could change at the end of the season, especially if West Ham finish in the Premier League top four and get into the Champions League.
