Leeds United are set to sign Joel Robles with the Spanish goalkeeper poised to arrive on a free transfer in the coming days.

The Whites have enjoyed a busy summer transfer window with some key comings and goings.

The bad news is that Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips have left the club for big money moves to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively.

Yet the good news is that Jesse Marsch has been backed with a raft of new signings as Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra have all arrived.

More new signings are needed though and Leeds appear to have one key area in mind.

Leeds certainly need a striker to support Patrick Bamford and a left back after Junior Firpo picked up an injury in pre-season.

Yet the next signing seemingly won’t fill either of those roles; instead, Leeds are going for a goalkeeper.

Leeds Live report that a shot-stopper is now likely to be Leeds’ next signing – and a deal could be done next week.

It’s noted that Kristoffer Klaesson has picked up an injury, which resulted in teenager Harry Christy being on the bench against Cagliari.

Leeds want a more experienced goalkeeper to come in and offer competition for Klaesson and a deal is seemingly in the pipeline.

Klaesson, 21, only made one Premier League appearance last season and Leeds may need somebody with more top-flight know-how.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that Leeds have now found their man as Joel Robles is heading for Elland Road.

Robles is a free agent having left Real Betis at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old will be a familiar name to some having spent five years with Everton between 2013 and 2018.

Robles joined Real Betis in 2018 and played 78 times before lining up this return to England.

Leeds have a Spanish goalkeeping coach in Marcos Abad and he may well be familiar with Robles.

An experienced stopper with Premier League experience, Robles ticks the boxes for Leeds.

There had been links to Ben Foster but it looks like Robles is the goalkeeper Leeds have decided to go for on a free transfer.
