Jesse Marsch is under enormous pressure and pundit Chris Sutton thinks that the Leeds United boss is absolutely doomed.

Leeds were in action against Fulham on Sunday, playing what felt like a must-win game for Marsch.

Rodrigo fired Leeds in front but that’s as good as it got, with Fulham scoring three times to turn the game on its head.

Crysencio Summervilla’s late goal was just a consolation and Leeds had to lick their wounds after a fourth defeat in a row.

Jesse Marsch is under enormous pressure

It’s now just two points in eight games for Marsch and Leeds.

A relegation battle is starting to look inevitable once again for Leeds and Marsch is under pressure.

Leeds fans were incredibly angry at full time on Sunday and some expect Marsch to go soon.

For now, the Leeds board are backing Marsch and are giving him time to turn things around.

Pundits are offering their opinions too though and Chris Sutton has been speaking about Marsch on the Monday Night Club.

Sutton – as quoted by Leeds Live – has suggested that Marsch is a ‘goner’ and ultimately doesn’t have much time left at Elland Road.

Sutton even suggested that Leeds fans and Marsch are on different pages because the American is just so positive all the time and it doesn’t wash with supporters.

The former England striker suggested that Leeds fans ‘see a different game’ Marsch, though did add that he thinks Marsch isn’t getting the credit he deserves.

Sutton pointed to performances against Arsenal and Crystal Palace as well as keeping Leeds in the Premier League as reasons to support Marsch.

“I think he’s right on the edge, I think he’s a goner, I really do and not because he deserves to go,” said Sutton. “I think there’s numerous things. I don’t necessarily think that he – they’re on a bad run okay – but I don’t think he helps himself in his post-match interviews at times. He’s the king of spin and I understand the message which he’s trying to give to his players and not a negative message, but everything is so, so positive and I don’t think that washes with a lot of the Leeds fans.”

“They see a different game. Let’s get it right, he does spin to a great extent and I sort of understand that. He’s the type of guy who if he was on the Titanic and it was going down he’d be telling you what a great steak he’s having and what a brilliantly built ship it was. That’s the sort of guy he is. What really goes against him is the Leeds fans and I don’t get this for one moment, singing Bielsa’s name. I mean Bielsa is gone and he was going to take Leeds down last season. Marsch doesn’t get the credit which he deserves for keeping Leeds in the Premier League and they started the season brilliantly. They’re on a bad run, as of late they had a good performance against Arsenal not so long ago and a really strong performance against Crystal Palace in the first-half,” he added.

Marsch needs results quickly; Sutton is right in suggesting that the positivity just won’t wash with Leeds fans, but performances without points is a frustrating mix.

A game with Liverpool this weekend doesn’t seem ideal but the upcoming game against Bournemouth feels like being absolutely pivotal.
