Norman Hunter is impressed by Leeds United’s Pontus Jansson

Speaking to LUTV, Norman Hunter has praised Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson.
The Swedish centre-back is in his first season as a permanent Leeds player after originally impressing on a season-long loan from Torino last season.
It is safe to say that the Whites’ supporters have really taken to Jansson, who has won their hearts by virtue of his no-nonsense style of defending and passion interactions with them.

United hadn’t conceded a Championship goal when Jansson was on the field – a record which spanned six games – until Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Millwall.
And Hunter has said to LUTV that the big 26-year-old has been simply excellent.
He said: “Jansson and [Liam] Cooper have been excellent. But Jansson, when the pressure is on, I think some of his defending – throwing his body in front of things, heading them at the right time and just defending, which he’s brilliant at – was just excellent.”

Jansson is something of a worry now for head coach Thomas Christiansen after limping out of the defeat in London with a suspected hamstring injury.
The severity of his injury is yet to be revealed but it would be a huge blow for Leeds if he is out indefinitely. United, who remain top of the Championship, have been superb this season and missing a player of his calibre for an extended period of time could be detrimental.
