Leeds United are closing in on Georginio Rutter having attempted to haggle a lower price for the Hoffenheim striker.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Leeds have been trying to bring Hoffenheim’s asking price down in recent days.
The Bundesliga side originally wanted around £35million for Rutter but Leeds have negotiated them down to around £30million.
That’s still a club-record deal for Leeds, surpassing the £27million spent on signing striker Rodrigo from Valencia in 2020.
Rutter is now expected to complete his move soon and wants to head over to England to complete a medical as soon as possible.

Leeds United must be patient with Georginio Rutter
This is an exciting move for Leeds and fans no doubt can’t wait to see Rutter in action.
Hailed as being similar to Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil superstar Neymar, Rutter is hugely exciting on the ball.
No player in the Bundesliga has completed more dribbles than Rutter this season, racking up 32 in just 15 games.
Leeds can expect plenty of dribbles from Rutter but they will need to be patient with him in front of goal.
Rutter has scored just twice in the Bundesliga this season and the 20-year-old is yet to show that he can be a truly natural goalscorer.
The Frenchman did score eight times last season and is still developing, so Leeds fans may need to take the rough with the smooth.
Rutter is going to be great to watch but it may take a while for the goals to flow in the Premier League as he adjusts to life in England and to the huge price tag.
Rutter has all the potential in the world though and Leeds will believe that they have secured a great deal having convinced Hoffenheim to sell for below their original asking price.
