The usually animated Pontus Jansson was a withdrawn figure after the 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
Fans are used to seeing the defender enjoying a rapport with the crowd and celebrating wildly after such a big win. Saturday was different.
Jansson went through the motions as the game ended. He was there, but he wasn’t really ‘all in’, like he usually is.
This was because he was dropped for the fixture, a decision nobody apart from head coach Garry Monk saw coming.
Jansson spoke to Swedish website Fotboll Skanalen ahead of the international break, admitting the reason for his benching will stay between him and head coach Garry Monk.

He was quizzed about why he did not really partake in a warm up or celebrate after, and Jansson admitted it took him until he had left the stadium to appreciate his team’s victory.
Jansson said: “It is how it is, when you do not play, it is clear that you are disappointed. You want to play.
“Then when I came home in the evening, I found the joy of winning the game.
“I was Happy for the team’s sake, but you are always disappointed when you do not get to play.”
Jansson comes across with his comments as a little too individual focused, having thrown a little sulk at his omission.
If he is to be the leader Leeds want and need him to be, he will have to keep his emotions in check a little better, even though they are part of what makes him such a big character at the club.
