According to BBC Sport (Transfer Live blog, 9:17am, October 5, 2020), Leeds United have been turned down by Manchester United in regard to signing Daniel James.

It has been reported that Leeds have been working ‘incredibly hard’ to sign the Wales international winger this summer.

The West Yorkshire club ‘offered to take the player on loan or make a significant bid for a permanent transfer’, but United turned it down, according to the report.

It has been further added that Leeds ‘had one last attempt over the weekend’, but the Red Devils said ‘no’ and turned them down.

Blow for Leeds United

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly a big fan of James, described by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as “an exciting young winger with lots of skills, vision, exceptional pace and a good work ethic” on the Red Devils’ official website in June 2019.

It seems that United rate the youngster highly, and having signed him only last summer, it does not really make much sense for the Red Devils to sell him after just one season.

James is only 22 years of age, and he will improve and get better in the coming years.
