The 25-year-old striker is seemingly close to signing for Cardiff City, but Leeds could have done with someone of his quality.
Rotherham’s Danny Ward in action
With Cardiff City looking to wrap up a deal for Rotherham United striker Danny Ward, as reported by The Sun, it would be very understandable to see a few Leeds United fans miffed that they missed out on the 25-year-old’s services, least of all to their former manager in Neil Warnock.
In a truly abysmal season for Rotherham, who finished rock bottom in the Championship with just 23 points from a possible 46 games, Ward was the light that shone brightest for the Millers and scored 11 in 43, while also claiming four assists.

Leeds are blessed with the fact they have Chris Wood on their books, with the New Zealand international firing home 30 goals in all competitions for the Whites last season, but behind him, they are remarkably light for a promotion aspiring side.
The fact that Kyle Bartley – a centre back – was Leeds’ joint second top scorer with six is incredibly alarming, as striker Marcus Antonsson proved to be a flop with just three goals to his name all season.

Signing someone like Ward, who could come on for Wood when he was having a bad game or fill in for him whenever he was injured, would have been such a clever signing from a Leeds perspective on so many levels from a playing point of view, plus it would have allowed Ward to stay settled in Yorkshire.
It would have given them experienced and prolific Championship back-up, someone with a lot of years to play with a fair chunk of potential to unlock as well, and it would have made Leeds’ strike force so much stronger.
Instead, it looks like a man who scored a quarter of Rotherham’s entire league goal tally last season will be venturing down to Wales to link up with Warnock, as Leeds’ inevitable search for a back-up striker continues.
