The Leeds United winger came off the bench to score his second goal of the season earlier this week.

Leeds United signed so many attacking players this summer that it would be easy to forget they already had some decent ones at their disposal.

The problem was, last season the vast majority under-performed, with only the recently departed Chris Wood pulling his weight in that department.

Stuart Dallas was one such example, with the Northern Ireland international managing just two goals in 31 Championship appearances. However on recent evidence the winger is ready to make up for that disappointing return, already matching his previous tally with only six games played.

What is even more impressive is Dallas has done that with limited minutes, suggesting Leeds have an unlikely but highly effective super sub on their hands.

The 26-year-old has started six of Leeds’ seven league games on the bench this season, while sitting out the first match all together. But he scored in a 28-minute appearance against Sunderland and found the net against Birmingham earlier this week, despite arriving with just 10 minutes of normal-time remaining.

Leeds need all their players performing as they bid to finally return to the top flight and, on early evidence, Dallas is going to have quite a say in that regard.

He may have watched anxiously as Leeds significantly strengthened but, having signed a new deal of his own, it is clear he still has a role to play.

For now it is not Jay-Roy Grot or Pawel Cibicki who has taken on the role of super sub, it is another player entirely.
