Leeds United fancied signing Hamed Traore from Sassuolo but an injury means a summer transfer is now very unlikely.

The Whites have been unbelievably busy in the summer window with a raft of signings already secured.

Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra have all arrived at Elland Road.

With Kalvin Phillips gone and Raphinha likely to go, Leeds should have plenty of money to play with this summer.

Plenty of other players have been linked with Leeds this summer, but you can likely cross Traore off the list.

Leeds United fancied signing Hamed Traore

Gazzetta dello Sport reported in June that Leeds were fighting AC Milan for the signing of Sassuolo talent Traore.

Traore, 22, is the brother of Manchester United talent Amad Diallo and rumours suggested that he could end up in England too.

The Ivorian midfielder came up through the Empoli ranks before joining Sassuolo on a two-year loan in 2019, which then became permanent.

Traore is considered to be one of the top young players in Serie A, possessing the speed and skill to be a very effective box to box midfielder.

Leeds were seemingly interested in luring him to Elland Road but that likely won’t be one of Victor Orta’s priorities right now.

Calciomercato note that Traore has suffered a fractured metatarsal in his left foot and has undergone surgery.

That means that Traore will miss the bulk of pre-season training and starting the season is now in doubt.

Traore is unlikely to be making a big transfer in this state with Leeds, Milan and any other interested clubs surely waiting for new on his recovery before paying a big fee.

Leeds need players who can make an impact early in the season and whilst Traore could be a star in the future, he will likely be on the back burner for Leeds after this injury setback.
