The Italian is pushing to start for Leeds United with positive EFL Cup performances.
Leeds United’s first-choice goalkeeper Rob Green has been commenting on the recent performances of his understudy Marco Silvestri this week.
The Italian was the Leeds United number one prior to the arrival of Green from QPR in the summer. He has had to settle for playing in the EFL Cup this season – where he has put in a string of good performances.

He made three penalty saves in the shoot-out win against Norwich City recently and insists he is pushing to win back his first-team place at Elland Road.
Speaking to TV Yorkshire this week the Leeds goalie had this to say about Silvestri – insisting he enjoys the pressure from his back-up:
Leeds United’s Marco Silvestri celebrates with team mates after the penalty shootout
“He’s a proven keeper at this level. I looked at the stats and I think he’s played the most games for Leeds in the current squad and he’s only a young guy and I haven’t been surprised by the performance he’s put in.
“I don’t think anyone else has. His strengths and attributes are there for everyone to see as a keeper and you want keepers to be competing and doing well.”

Green had some ropey moments when he first moved to Leeds but he has settled at the club now and has put in some good performances to strengthen the defensive resolve at Elland Road.
But Leeds fans will no doubt be pleased that the club have such a talented, if not occasionally erratic goalkeeper on the bench in the form of Silvestri should Green need to sit out.
But for the time being, the Italian will be waiting with excitement ahead of an EFL Cup clash with Liverpool for Leeds.
