The former Liverpool star is currently without a club.

Leeds United’s under-23s took on Sheffield Wednesday’s in the Professional Development League today and unfortunately could not come away with the win.

It was a shame for Leeds to lose the game especially as they were taking on Yorkshire rivals in Wednesday.

There was one interesting name on the Leeds squad list however – one not known by many a Leeds fans.

Number six was listed as Josh Dobie – a trialist trying to earn himself a contract at Elland Road.

The 18-year-old is a central defender who was released in the summer by Liverpool after failing to make an impact with the club.

The teenager, who spent time on a work experience loan at York City in 2015, will be hoping he can now secure himself a deal at Elland Road in the long run.

However, based on this performance, he might struggle.

Leeds lost 2-0 and he was booked in the game – but he may still have shown enough good attributes to earn himself a permanent deal, even if only to the end of the season.

Leeds fans will hope they have got their hands on an unearthed gem.
