Leeds United received bad news over defender Luke Ayling yesterday.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported Ayling faces two months out after suffering a MCL sprain.

With Gaetano Berardi also struggling with an injury sustained against Ipswich, Leeds’ defence is looking a little stretched.

Fortunately there is good news too, with Barry Douglas set to be available for Leeds’ next fixture.

Douglas played in Leeds’ under-23 game against Hull City.

He played for an hour, as planned, before being substituted with a view to featuring for the first team next weekend.

Leeds do not have a midweek match this week, next in action on Sunday away to Wigan Athletic.

Douglas had been outstanding for Leeds in the opening weeks of the season, settling instantly following his surprise summer move from Wolves.

It is still a big shame that Leeds do not have both Ayling and Douglas available, but the Whites are very lucky to have the left-back returning.

His comeback from injury could not have been timed better.
