Leeds United want Georginio Rutter but do have alternatives in mind with Viktor Gyokeres and Hwang Hee-chan on the radar.
Reports of Leeds making their move to sign Hoffenheim striker Rutter emerged over the weekend.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claimed on Saturday that Leeds are in talks over a ‘massive deal’ worth up to £35million for Rutter.
RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins adds that Rutter is in line to earn around €4million-a-year – around £68,000-a-week – if he makes the move to Elland Road.
This would be a huge deal for Leeds, especially for a striker who has scored just twice in the Bundesliga this season.
Leeds clearly see huge potential in Rutter but a deal isn’t quite done yet, meaning the Whites would be wise to have other targets in mind.
That’s exactly what appears to be happening with The Athletic reporting that two names appear to be on the list.

Leeds United eyeing two strikers alongside Georginio Rutter
It’s stated that Coventry City attacker Viktor Gyokeres is one of the other options on Leeds’ hit list.
According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are willing to pay £14million to sign Gyokeres, but it looks like that is only being lined up as a fallback move.
Gyokeres has been in fine form this season, racking up 12 goals in 25 Championship games for the Sky Blues.
The Swede, formerly of Brighton and Hove Albion, seems destined for a Premier League move seen and Leeds still have on eye on him.
Another name mentioned is Wolves attacker Hwang Hee-chan, with Jesse Marsch still an admirer of the South Korean forward.
Marsch and Hwang worked together with great success at Red Bull Salzburg, with the American possibly eyeing a reunion.
Hwang has found goals hard to come by with Wolves and fans turned on him earlier this season.
Hwang did though score against Liverpool on Saturday night, securing a draw for Wolves in their FA Cup tie at Anfield.
It seems unlikely that Wolves would let Hwang join a Premier League rival, and we’re backing Rutter or Gyokeres to be the main man for Leeds up top soon enough.
