Leeds United are closing in on signing Georginio Rutter as the Hoffenheim striker prepares to undergo a medical with the Whites.
That’s according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, one of the most reliable sources in Germany.
Plettenberg claims paperwork is being finalised tonight and the total package of the deal is worth up to €40million (£35million).
Plettenberg adds that Rutter is set to undergo a medical with Leeds in the next 48 hours ahead of completing the deal.
The move is described as a ‘massive transfer for Leeds’ and that’s absolutely right – this will be a club-record move for the Whites.
Leeds’ current record stands at £27million for Rodrigo back in 2020 and whilst Brenden Aaronson’s arrival ran it close, Rutter’s deal will blow both out of the water.

Georginio Rutter is an exciting capture for Leeds
Rutter, 20, was a top young prospect at Rennes in France before heading to Hoffenheim in 2021.
Rutter really impressed last season, bagging eight goals and four assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances.
The Frenchman has found this season a little more difficult with just two goals and two assists in 15 games.
Rutter has previously been used out wide but has only been used as a striker under Andre Breitenreiter.
RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins adds that Rutter is set to earn around €4million-a-year at Leeds – around £68,000-a-week.
Pair that up with the transfer fee and Leeds are investing major cash in Rutter.
Leeds are paying for potential here and will hope to see Rutter become a clinical goalscorer in the Premier League.
That’s a bit of a gamble, especially with Leeds far from guaranteed to be a Premier League club next season.
Victor Orta seems convinced though and having made Rutter his top target, Leeds appear to be closing in.
