Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe surprised by Gaetano Berardi’s comments

Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi suggested that he wasn’t good enough for Thomas Christiansen’s side in midweek.

Kemar Roofe has suggested to Leeds Live that he was surprised to hear Gaetano Berardi suggest he felt he wasn’t good enough to play left-back for Thomas Christiansen’s side.

Berardi raised eyebrows in the week, when he conceded that Leeds needed a better left-back than him, if they were to reach their aim.

And Roofe has admitted that he is shocked that Berardi would be so humble about his own ability, even though he is a very popular figure in the dressing room, due to these qualities.

“I am surprised hearing that but I am not at the same time,” Roofe said.

“He gets on with everybody really well.”

Berardi is naturally a right sided defender, but he has impressed in recent weeks in an unfamiliar position.

Berardi has been a key member of a Leeds defence, which has been very solid.

The Whites have managed to win four of their last six games to move to the outskirts of the play offs.

Leeds won on their last outing due to the strength of their defence, with Christiansen’s side edging past Norwich City 1-0.

Leeds are next in action at Elland Road tomorrow, when they take on Hull City at Elland Road.
