The midfielder was sent off during the 4-3 loss against Sheffield United.
Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been in good form for the club this season. He has emerged as a genuine first-team member with his performances and Leeds fans have been impressed with his displays under Garry Monk.
But today he had an afternoon to forget with the Leeds under-23 side.
Phillips picked up two yellow cards in the game and was sent off on the brink of half-time. At the time, Leeds’ under-23s were 2-1 up against their Sheffield United opponents. However, Phillips’ red card hindered their chances and they went on to lose the game 4-3 – with Leeds’ goals coming from Eoghan Stokes, Tom Pearce and Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson.
Phillips has picked up a reputation for being something of a tough tackler in the midfield area and Leeds fans won’t be surprised to hear he saw his marching orders.
However, they will be pleased it came in a under-23 match and will hope Phillips can stay on the field for the Leeds United first-team.
