The former England international was appointed by Garry Monk this summer.

Leeds United underwent plenty of changes this summer in the coaching department. Garry Monk was appointed as the successor to Steve Evans and he brought Pep Clotet along with him, his former assistant at Swansea City.
He also brought in James Beattie. The former England striker was appointed as first-team coach at Thorp Arch in the summer.
The former Accrington Stanley manager played with Monk at Southampton during their playing careers and is not afraid to praise his boss.

He told BBC Radio Leeds yesterday:
“I’ve got a great boss.
“He’s a very good young manager. Everything is very meticulous and organised. I basically just follow orders!”
He then went on to discuss the team. Beattie is very happy with the players assembled at Elland Road and has plenty of belief in the new squad.

But he also urged the fans to have patience in the club:
“We want the fans to give us that little bit of time. They can see the progression and we are just trying to find a level of consistency at the moment.
“Working on the mentality a lot with the players. We’ve got a tremendous group, they’re all really good lads and willing to learn and wanting to buy into what the gaffer’s showing them.”
It is not however the fans that Beattie should be worrying about.
Leeds’ controversial owner Massimo Cellino is the impatient one and with the club struggling at the start of the new season Beattie and co will be hoping for a big derby win against Huddersfield Town this weekend to calm any jitters with the maverick Italian.
